Standing Rules
1. In order to join KARS Ceramic Club, all members must have a valid KARS Membership care. Members must have the combination to the front door lock to enter the building. The lock combination will be changed when necessary. In the event you miss the meeting when the combination is changed, call any board member or refer to membership card for combination number and come to the next meeting.
2. Upon entering the building, sign the register book located on the desk and indicate why you are there (firing, pouring, class, picking up pieces, meeting, etc.) this register book must be signed every time you are at the clubhouse.
3. Shredded paper is not to be left in the building under any circumstances. If shredded paper is found, it is to be discarded. This is a Fire Department regulation.
4. Under no condition are the facilities or equipment (i.e. club molds, use of kiln) to be used for profit or any sort. Anyone caught doing so will be in violation of club rules and will be subject to termination of club membership.
5. Do not bring a non-member to the club and allow them to use the molds, or kiln for their use. However, if it is necessary for someone to assist you in your pouring this will be permitted. Member will be held responsible.
6. Because of danger, children under the age of 16 are not allowed in the firing room. Members are financially responsible for any damage or breakage caused by children or other person not a member of the club.
General Information
Attend the monthly meetings and feel free to offer your suggestions and to volunteer for the various activities. The monthly meeting is scheduled for 7:00 P.M. the first Thursday of the month except during July and August. The meetings will be held to a minimum so that we can have time for socializing and participation in the program. Please wear the name tag which is provided for you at the monthly meeting. The plastic name tag is to be pinned on the membership board (wall Hanger) at the end of the meeting. By everyone wearing their name tag, it will be easier for the members to get to know each other.
If you have any problems with any of the facilities, call the Building Chairman.
Wednesday is usually a scheduled workshop day. Please do not use pouring room if classes are scheduled. Check bulletin Board for schedule.
Each member is entitled to keep one bucket of slip at any one time at the club. Any additional slip will become club property.
When leaving the building, turn off lights, turn off and clean coffee pot (if used), etc. air conditioner set at 78, heat temperature at 70, and secure all four doors.
Committee Duties
Hospitality/Decorating Committee
Be responsible for purchasing hospitality supplies, sell the mold-fund chance tickets at monthly meeting, making sure members and guests sign the register book, and arrange for three members to furnish cakes, etc. and one member furnish a liquid refreshment for monthly and social meetings. Those responsible for refreshments will also decorate table, clean up and removing garbage and placing it in the outside garbage cans.
Building Committee
Be responsible for maintenance of equipment in the club building, purchasing of cleaning and firing supplies, pouring and firing lessons, firing activities and the firing calendar, and getting four members to clean clubhouse for monthly membership meeting.
Membership
Maintain club membership forms. Collect Club dues and transmit money to the Treasurer. Notify members when KARS pass is due for renewal, is authorized to collect for KARS season pass dues, transmit any KARS pass dues with memberıs name and pass number to NASA or KSC Sundry Store. Post copy of and up-to-date membership list at the clubhouse and provide an up to date membership list with any changes monthly to the President. Be responsible for membership name tag.
Make an annual club membership to KARS in May indicating the following:
(a) Name and address of all members
(b) KARS membership card number and date of issue
(c) Names of badged members including company and agency affiliation
(d) In case of dependents, the sponsorıs employer and agency affiliation
(e) Authorized members from the community at large.
Ways and Means
At monthly meeting chances are sold (25˘ or 5 for $1.00) for a drawing as a way to earn money for the mold fund. The person holding the lucky number will receive one-half of the amount of money earned from the sales and the balance is deposited into the mold fund account and then used to purchase club molds. Our other fund raiser is the green ware sales held during the monthly meetings. Donated green ware pieces, especially of molds other than our club molds are appreciated. All members are asked to donate pieces. This is an important part of your responsibilities of club membership. This also goes to our mold fund. All monies collected will be given to the Treasurer for deposit in Club checking account.
Purchasing
Purchasing supplies for members taking classes or completing Club display pieces, or for memberıs personal projects. Order slip when enough orders are made for delivery.
Sunshine
Send cards as needed to members or to member families as needed. Report at monthly meeting on cards sent and the purpose.
Mold
Purchase club molds or molds ordered by members. Provide a poured display piece for finishing. Maintain molds, replacing straps or bands as needed. Keeping and posting an up-to-date mold list at the club.
